Founded in 1930 by Battista “Pinin” Farina, the Pininfarina house rapidly established itself as one of the most prestigious automotive design studios in Europe, creating bodywork for Ferrari, Lancia, Peugeot, and Cadillac, among others. During the 1950s and 1960s, at the height of industrial design’s expansion, the Italian studio extended its expertise beyond the automobile and collaborated with various European manufacturers to design professional furniture and technical equipment, applying to these everyday objects the same principles of aerodynamics and functional elegance as on its cars.
The 1960s marked a turning point for professional furniture, particularly in the medical and dental sectors, where manufacturers such as Gallus sought to modernize the equipment of professional practices. Lacquered steel, opaline trays, optimized storage systems, and clean lines became the standards of a furniture tradition conceived to combine hygiene, ergonomics, and prestige.
