This Bauche Non-combustible safe dates from the 1920s and incorporates the patented fire protection system characteristic of Bauche products from this period. Fully restored in our workshops to a polished metal finish, it retains all its original features: steel corner reinforcements, visible nailwork, central rose and engraved maker's plate on the top. The original key is supplied and the mechanism is in perfect working order.
The trunk is portable, compact and relatively light for a trunk of this generation. The patina of the metal, worked on during the restoration, reveals the natural nuances of the steel while preserving the authentic traces of wear that bear witness to its history. The structure is sound, with no deformation or structural alteration.
The size and aesthetics of this Bauche Non-combustible safe make it a natural addition to any interior with an industrial, retro or vintage feel - as decorative furniture, a document box or a showpiece. Made in France, with an identified origin.

Small portable safes underwent significant development in France from the second half of the 19th century onward, driven by the growth of commerce and industry. Intended for professionals — merchants, notaries, industrialists — they allowed cash, securities, and valuable documents to be secured in a transportable format. French manufacturers such as Bauche, founded in Paris, distinguished themselves through the filing of specific patents, notably for fireproof protection systems incorporating double-wall construction filled with insulating materials.
These trade safes, produced in small runs with particular attention paid to ironwork and decorative elements, are today sought-after collector’s objects. Their robust construction has allowed them to survive a century without losing their mechanical integrity, and their early 20th-century industrial aesthetic speaks directly to contemporary decorative trends.
