This Pepsi cola enamelled plaque is an iconic collector's item from the 1950s, featuring the famous cut-out shape of the bottle cap that has marked the brand's visual identity. Made from thick enamelled sheet steel, it features a characteristic curved relief simulating the notches on the cap. The tricolour graphic (blue, white and red) serves as a background for the cursive inscription "Pepsi-Cola", whose flowing typography in bright red stands out with remarkable clarity.
The state of conservation is exceptional for an outdoor sign from this period: the gloss of the enamel is deep and glazed, a sign of high-quality firing. The patina of use remains discreet, with a few marginal chips on the raised edges that authenticate its life without altering the central visual. The signature "Langcat Bussum" (Langcat Holland) is clearly legible at the bottom of the plate, guaranteeing its provenance from one of the most renowned European enamellers of the 20th century.
With its striking visual format and saturated colours, this advertising sign makes a first-rate wall decoration. This Pepsi cola enamelled plaque embodies the cheerful, optimistic aesthetic of the post-war era and will fit in perfectly with a retro kitchen, an industrial loft or a collection of advertising memorabilia, adding an undeniable touch of vintage authenticity.

The history of Pepsi-Cola, which began in 1893 in a North Carolina pharmacy, took a decisive turn in the 1950s with the adoption of the “Bottle Cap” logo. This design, echoing the colors of the American flag in support of the war effort a few years earlier, became the brand’s banner in its commercial war against Coca-Cola. This sign testifies to the international expansion of Pepsi, which then entrusted the manufacture of its durable advertisements to factories of excellence like Langcat in the Netherlands.
The Langcat factory (Verenigde Blikfabrieken), based in Bussum, was recognized throughout Europe for the superior quality of its enamels and its mastery of complex cut-out shapes. Collaborating with the world’s biggest brands, it produced advertising objects that are today considered quality standards by collectors. This sign is a precious vestige of this golden age of physical marketing, where the durability of enamel served to permanently anchor the brand image in the urban landscape.
