Superb Foamex American copper fire extinguisher, dated 1930-1940. Made entirely of solid copper, it is in remarkable condition, with all its original markings and inscriptions perfectly legible. This foam-type model was manufactured by the Liphart Foamex Corporation in New Jersey, and had to be turned upside down to activate the chemical reaction that produced the extinguishing foam.
This American copper fire extinguisher bears witness to a time when fire safety went hand in hand with elegance and robustness. Its industrial look, engraved reliefs and warm patina make it as decorative as it is technical. An engineering piece that is both beautiful and functional, typical of American workshops and factories in the mid-20ᵉ century.
