The result of a Franco-British cooperation launched in 1962 between Aérospatiale and the British Aircraft Corporation, Concorde entered commercial service in 1976 and became the only supersonic airliner to have sustained a lasting commercial operation, linking Paris and London to New York in just over three hours at a cruising speed of Mach 2. A symbol of technological achievement and prestige, it stands alone as the defining aircraft of exceptional civil aviation at the close of the 20th century.
Withdrawn from service in 2003 after three decades of flight, Concorde remains today an object of fascination for enthusiasts of aeronautics and industrial design.
