This Gueneau fighter aircraft helmet is an authentic French military aviation pilot’s helmet from the 1960s, with a black fibreglass shell fitted with its two original visors – one tinted for sunlight, the other designed for night vision – allowing the pilot to adapt to different flight conditions. It comes with its original Ulmer France oxygen mask, complete with retaining straps, supply hose and a manufacturer’s label that is still legible, forming a complete and authentic vintage fighter pilot’s set.
The set is in a fine state of preservation for flight equipment of this age: the shell, the leather of the mask and the visor mechanisms remain functional and have not suffered any major damage. A Gueneau helmet accompanied by its original Ulmer mask, complete and matching, is a rare combination, as these two items have frequently become separated over the decades.
