This celestial navigation globe is a rare educational terrestrial hemisphere, dating from the 1950s and preserved in its original wooden box with metal clasp. Imported from the former Soviet Union, it is in impeccable condition, reflecting the care taken in the manufacture of scientific instruments at the time.
The half-globe represents the Northern Hemisphere, with its finely drawn meridians and parallels. Metal hoops simulate the circles of longitude, the equator and the reference meridian, while the graduations on the circular plate allow angle or astronomical calculations. The inner plate, entitled 'Attestat' in Russian, attests to the authenticity and precise calibration of this instrument.
Originally used to teach geography and astronomy in schools, or for navigation and scientific calculations in military institutes, this celestial navigation globe combines functionality, precision and decorative elegance. An exceptional piece for collectors and lovers of vintage instruments.
