This giant Playmobil clown is a life-size recreation of the German brand’s iconic figure, based on the first generation of giant figures from the 1980s. The figure comes complete with its black bowler hat, orange wig, red nose and distinctive clown outfit in green, yellow and pink. The proportions and facial features faithfully replicate the original Playmobil design, scaled up to a large size.
The piece retains its original patina and is in very good overall condition, with a few natural signs of ageing, but no missing or replaced parts. The fact that the set is complete — hat, nose, wig and original outfit — is rare for this type of figure, as removable parts are frequently lost over the decades.

Launched in Germany in 1974 by the company Geobra Brandstätter, the Playmobil brand quickly established itself as a worldwide reference in the toy industry through its miniature figures and varied thematic universes. During the 1980s, for promotional operations and shop window displays, the brand produced a series of oversized figures reproducing its iconic characters at large scale — including the circus clown — intended for advertising and decorative use rather than play.
Produced in very limited runs for these event-based applications, these first-generation oversized Playmobil figures have over time become sought-after collector’s objects, sitting at the intersection of the cult toy and the vintage advertising piece. Their rarity, combined with the nostalgia they evoke among several generations who grew up with Playmobil, makes them today prized pieces for collectors and enthusiasts of pop decoration.
