This Giant Playmobil little girl recreates the iconic silhouette of the first generation of Playmobil figures on a scale of 110 cm. The round face retains the original features: round black eyes, a crescent-shaped smile and a shiny brown bob with strands framing the face. The upper body is dressed in a bright blue long-sleeved top with a round neckline and fine moulded seams, whilst the lower body features trousers and pink-mauve shoes with their characteristic rounded shapes. The C-shaped hands, a historic signature of the brand, complete this faithful reproduction of the original 1980s design.

The piece is in very good overall condition: over the decades, the PVC material has developed a soft, even patina, with no major deformation or structural cracks. Far from being a flaw, this patina is, on the contrary, the authentic visual signature of a piece of this age and attests to its original provenance, with no restoration or repainting.

This giant Playmobil little girl belongs to the very first generation of advertising figurines produced under licence from Playmobil, intended exclusively for toy retailers to display in their shop windows and points of sale in the 1980s. Never sold to the general public at the time, these pieces have become extremely rare and are now sought-after collectables among vintage Playmobil enthusiasts, collectors of vintage advertising, and fans of 1980s design.

Launched in 1974 by the German company Geobra Brandstätter under the direction of Hans Beck, the Playmobil brand achieved rapid success from its earliest years with its 7.5 cm figures featuring C-shaped hands and a minimalist smiling face. During the 1970s and 1980s, to support this growth, the brand developed large-scale promotional materials intended for retailers and trade toy fairs — notably at the Nuremberg International Toy Fair, an essential showcase for the industry. These giant statues, faithfully reproducing the design of the miniature figures at human scale, were used to attract the attention of distributors and to give physical form to the brand’s visual identity at points of sale.

Produced in very small runs and never intended for direct sale, most of these first-generation PVC statues disappeared as promotional materials were renewed over the decades. The rare surviving examples, often kept by former toy industry professionals, are today regarded as historic pieces of Playmobil’s visual identity. Their natural patina, far from being removed, is valued by collectors as the authentic mark of half a century of European toy history.

Giant Playmobil little girl, first-generation PVC promotional figurine, manufactured under official Playmobil licence in the 1980s. 110 cm tall, with a smiling face and the characteristic brown bob, in exceptional period condition. A very rare item, originally reserved for toy industry professionals.
