This Holophane art deco lamp is an old Europhane urban luminaire made of diffusing wired glass combined with a cast aluminium crown and neck. Initially designed for public lighting, it takes its characteristic silhouette from the Holophane balls seen on certain Parisian lampposts. The prismatic diffuser channels the light evenly, providing precise, soft lighting.
The luminaire is presented here in a re-used version, mounted on a circular base in painted medium, so it can be used as a floor lamp or on a piece of furniture. The whole design retains its original industrial aesthetic, but is still suitable for domestic use. The metal and glass finishes give a neutral look, perfect for a contemporary environment or a décor inspired by industrial design.
