This Parisian shell suspension comes from the public lighting in the 16th arrondissement of Paris. Its cast aluminium body has been polished to a mirror finish in our workshops, revealing the curves and details of its characteristic Art Deco shape. The two grooved Plexiglas globes shape its shell-like silhouette, diffusing soft, even light throughout the room.
Electrification is by E27 220V LEDs. The suspension is ready to install, wired and functional. The suspension chain is original, in chromed metal to match the finish of the body.
With its generous dimensions and bold silhouette, this Parisian shell suspension lamp is particularly well-suited to hang over a large table, a piece of trade furniture or an antique workbench. The use of salvaged urban objects in interior decoration developed from the 1980s and 1990s onward, in parallel with the conversion of industrial wastelands into living spaces — lofts, workshops, transformed warehouses. Elements of urban street furniture — light fixtures, signs, plaques, roadside fittings — find a second decorative life in these settings, bringing a historical dimension and a materiality that contemporary production rarely replicates.
Paris represents a particularly rich source of quality urban furniture: throughout the 20th century, the city commissioned specialized foundries and workshops producing cast iron and aluminum pieces to a high standard of finish. Light fixtures from the central and western arrondissements of the capital — often in Art Déco or Haussmannian style — are today sought after for their manufacturing quality and their immediately recognizable visual identity.
