This Playmobils Compression Sculpture is a unique work by the artist Thomar, who has turned the world of toys on its head and turned it into contemporary sculpture. The piece consists of a block of concrete painted black, with a deliberately rough relief, into which Playmobil characters and horses are integrated, along with decorative elements (wheels, panels, accessories). The whole forms a dense, almost mineral column, where the bright colours of the figures contrast with the dark mass of the concrete.

Worked like a frozen compression, this Playmobils Compression Sculpture gives the impression that the cowboys, Indians and soldiers are set in rock or in a solidified lava flow. The figures appear partially embedded in the material, some half visible, others almost submerged, creating multiple scenes to discover as you move around the piece. The rectangular base ensures good stability, allowing the sculpture to be displayed on a low piece of furniture or a dedicated plinth.

An original, signed work, this creation is as much for Playmobil collectors as for fans of contemporary art and the misappropriation of objects. It functions as a playful totem, halfway between childlike nostalgia and a commentary on the accumulation of toys. Placed in a living room, an office or a room dedicated to collections, it becomes an immediate focal point and a topic of conversation for any visitor.

Cowboy and Indian Playmobil figures are among the most emblematic historical themes of the brand, appearing in the very early years of the range. They stage the imaginary world of the Far West through cowboys, sheriffs, trappers, cavalry troops and Native American tribes, accompanied by horses, wagons, forts and encampments. These figures have marked several generations of players by providing an ideal playground for stories of chases, duels and territorial conquests.

By reusing these characters in a concrete sculpture, the artist Thomar freezes this narrative universe into a single volume. The cowboys and Indians, once mobile and interchangeable, here become compositional elements embedded in the same black mass. This change of scale and material underlines the shift from toy to art object, while preserving the immediate readability of the silhouettes and colours typical of Playmobil. The sculpture thus pays tribute to this Western imagery while placing it within a contemporary perspectiv
