This Porsche technical illustration is an original work by Japanese artist Yoshihiro Inomoto, depicting the Porsche 956 - the Group C prototype raced from 1982 - in cross-sectional view. The composition reveals the vehicle's complete mechanical architecture: twin-turbocharged 6-cylinder engine mounted in a central rear position, gearbox, running gear and ground-effect ducts characteristic of the 956's aerodynamic design. The dark livery with 'Porsche' lettering on the flanks is faithfully reproduced, with the ground reflection characteristic of the artist's graphic style.

Inomoto's work combines highly precise technical drawing with photographic treatment of materials and light: amber halos on the engine's hot spots, reflections on the ground and depth effects give the composition a visual intensity that is rare in the genre of car illustration. The work is presented in a wooden frame with white matting, under Plexiglas, in a well-preserved state.

This Porsche technical illustration will appeal to collectors of automotive art, enthusiasts of endurance racing and its history, and lovers of high-precision technical drawings. An original signed piece, difficult to find outside the Japanese market, it is a reference graphic document on one of the most successful racing cars in history.

The Porsche 956 is a racing prototype developed by Porsche for the Group C category, introduced in competition during the 1982 season. Designed by Norbert Singer, it is equipped with a 2.65-litre flat-six twin-turbo engine developing over 600 horsepower depending on configuration. Its architecture is based on an aluminium monocoque chassis and incorporates a ground effect system using venturi tunnels, providing exceptional aerodynamic downforce. At its debut at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1982, it achieved a historic one-two-three finish.

The 956 dominated the world endurance circuits between 1982 and 1985, winning the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1982, 1983 and 1984. Entered by the official Rothmans Porsche team as well as numerous private teams, it established itself as one of the most effective sports prototypes in the history of motorsport. The surviving examples are today preserved in museums or prestigious private collections.
