This Mercedes McLaren Formula 1 model is a 1/4-scale representation of the MP4/13, the single-seater with which Mika Häkkinen won the Drivers' World Championship in 1998. Measuring 140 cm in length, this unique piece accurately reproduces the silver and black livery characteristic of the West McLaren Mercedes: biton bodywork, faithfully reproduced Mobil 1, Mercedes-Benz, Bridgestone and Computer Associates decorations, and the number 8 stamped on the flanks.
The entire model is meticulously finished, with Bridgestone Potenza tyres lettered in white, multi-spoke wheels, a front spoiler and rear diffuser with a detailed aerodynamic profile. The model is presented in a transparent Plexiglas case resting on a textured graphite-finish presentation base, providing optimum display and complete protection for the piece.
This Mercedes McLaren Formula 1 model is aimed at model car collectors and Formula 1 enthusiasts from the 1990s looking for a large-format piece with a strong visual impact. The McLaren MP4/13 is the car with which Mika Häkkinen claimed his first Formula 1 World Drivers’ Championship in 1998. Designed by Adrian Newey and powered by a Mercedes-Benz V10, it dominated the season against Michael Schumacher’s Ferrari, winning eight Grands Prix. The silver and black livery of the West McLaren Mercedes, with its red accents, is one of the most recognizable in the history of the sport.
Mika Häkkinen, the Finnish driver nicknamed the “Flying Finn”, delivered with this season one of the most noted comebacks in the paddock, following a serious accident in Adelaide in 1995. His partnership with David Coulthard under the McLaren-Mercedes banner remains one of the most competitive driver pairings of the late 1990s. The MP4/13 is today one of the most sought-after cars among collectors and enthusiasts of Formula 1 history.
