This American-made Shell Yellow Tokheim petrol pump, dating from 1950, was used in the Netherlands, as evidenced by its meter bearing the Dutch inscription ‘Niet voor handelsdoeleinden’. It features a vintage yellow livery in Shell colours, with the red shell on the front, ‘Shell’ lettering on the side and the Ethyl badge on the lower part of the body. Its chrome nozzle, black hose and original nameplates have been retained, and a double-sided, backlit Shell opaline globe has been fitted to the top.
The complete restoration was carried out in our workshops: decontamination of the pump, painting and varnishing, and polishing of the metal parts. The yellow is vibrant and uniform, the chrome shines, and the original markings remain legible. A complete Tokheim pump, with its nozzle, nameplates and original meter, restored to this standard of finish, is a rare find on the vintage petrol pump market.
This yellow Tokheim Shell petrol pump will appeal to collectors of vintage petrol and motoring memorabilia, enthusiasts of vintage petrol stations, as well as interior designers seeking a striking and eye-catching piece for a garage, bar, shop or living room. Its yellow colour and illuminated globe make it an instant focal point in any interior.

Founded in 1901 in Fort Wayne, Indiana, by John J. Tokheim, the Tokheim company ranks among the great American manufacturers of fuel pumps, whose models equipped service stations across several continents. From the mid-20th century, its pumps were exported to Europe, notably to the Netherlands, where they were installed by oil companies with meters adapted to local regulations.
Shell, the Anglo-Dutch oil company, made the scallop shell its emblem and deployed its red and yellow livery across the pumps, globes and signage of its stations, instantly recognisable the world over. Tokheim pumps in Shell colours, now retired from service and restored by enthusiasts, have become sought-after collector’s items, witnesses to the golden age of the service station and the car culture of the 1950s.
Shell Yellow Tokheim petrol pump, an American pump manufactured by Tokheim in 1950 and formerly in operation in the Netherlands, restored in our workshops in vintage Shell yellow. Original nozzle and nameplates, double-sided backlit opaline Shell globe.
